Frequently asked questions

Questions before you choose

Practical answers about formats, Social & Communication, speech resources and where to begin.

01What is the difference between the curriculum and Books & Printables?

The curriculum is organised by subject and progression level. Books & Printables is a format-first way to browse the same ecosystem: Level 1 sets, focused communication resources, activity books and bundles. Choose curriculum when progression matters most; choose a focused resource when you already know the skill you want to practise.

02Is Social & Communication Skills Level 1 available now?

Yes. Social & Communication Skills Level 1 is live alongside Life Skills, Functional Maths and Functional English. It includes practical communication targets such as greetings, requesting, choices, feelings, WH questions, sequencing and turn-taking.

03Are PECS cards the same as AAC?

AAC is the broad category of communication methods used alongside or instead of speech. PECS is one specific picture-exchange approach. Able Marga picture resources can support communication practice, but they should not replace a learner’s established AAC system or an individual communication plan.

04Can parents use the speech and language resources at home?

Yes. Many of the picture resources can be used for short home-practice sessions. Keep the target simple, accept the learner’s accessible response method and coordinate with the learner’s speech or communication professional where an individual therapy plan is in place.

05Do I have to buy a bundle?

No. Start with one Level 1 subject or one focused resource. Bundles are useful when you already know you want broader coverage; they are not required to begin.

Not sure which set fits?
