What this curriculum teaches
Able Marga’s Social & Communication curriculum develops emotions, everyday social skills, behaviour understanding, social stories and AAC-friendly communication. It belongs to a structured six-level functional curriculum for children with autism and other special needs aged 2+.
The planned subject uses calm, one-concept-per-page activities covering turn-taking, greetings, self-regulation, Indian and NRI social stories, and nonverbal communication.
What’s inside Level 1
The full Social & Communication subject is in development. Planned content includes recognising and naming emotions, simple social stories, turn-taking and greetings, behaviour and self-regulation basics, and AAC activities.
Who this level is for
Choose levels by current ability rather than age or school class. Level 1 is designed for a learner who: Responds to their own name and can sit at a table for 5–10 minutes with support.
A child can correctly be on different levels in different subjects. Use the Able Marga Placement Guide to select each subject independently.
How you’ll teach it
Skills are broken into small, teachable steps. The programme is ABA-informed, IEP-aligned, UDL-aware and AAC-friendly. Activities use clear visual choices and prompt success before support is gradually faded. At the foundation level, a child can respond by pointing, matching, circling or placing a card instead of relying on reading or writing.
